Oliver Spencer is a Health academy senior this year playing for the Buffaloes Baseball team, coming off of an injury last year. He has been playing baseball since he was seven years old, and is looking into playing in college.
“I’ve played t-ball growing up. As soon as I could I switched to coach pitch and then machine pitch and then all the way up to kid pitch,” Spencer said.
Spencer is a well decorated member of the Buffaloes baseball team and plays as a Catcher and an Outfielder.
“Freshman year I got an award for most RBI’s, sophomore year, I got the Golden Glove Award for our JV team that went 15 and three,” Spencer said.
Despite his promising rise through his first two years of playing baseball his success was halted when, during his junior year he suffered an injury to both his meniscus and his MCL. Coming off of the injury he was worried that the year of rest would take a toll on his skills as a player, but that was not the case. He is hopeful for this season and will continue to play the sport he loves.
“I love all the fun little side quests of baseball, like the chirping, chirping the other team, all the different chants and noises we make in the dugout, and all the fun we’re able to have together with some of our best friends,” Spencer said.
