The fans of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone think the book is better than the movie, but I don’t agree. I’ve read the book and watched the movie, and I honestly think the movie is way better. The movie shows the story in a way that’s easier to follow, more exciting and more fun to experience with other people. First of all, the movie is more exciting because you can see everything happen. In the book, I had to imagine what Hogwarts looked like or how Quidditch was played. Sometimes I couldn’t picture it in my head. But in the movie, everything was right in front of me. The castle, the moving staircases, the magic spells and even the Quidditch match looked amazing on screen. When Harry was flying on his broomstick, it was more thrilling to watch than it was to read about.
Another reason the movie is better is because it saves time. The book takes hours and hours to finish, but the movie tells the whole story in just about two hours. I got to see the main plot without having to go through pages of descriptions about things like how the castle looked or how the characters felt every second. The movie cuts out some stuff, but I didn’t really miss it. I just wanted the action and main story, and the movie gave me that right away. The characters also feel more real in the movie. In the book, I only had descriptions, so I had to imagine what Harry, Ron, and Hermione sounded like. In the movie, I got to actually hear their voices and see their expressions. Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint made the character feel alive. For me, it was easier to connect to them in the movie than in the book.
Finally, the movie is something I can share with other people. I watched it with my family, and we could all enjoy it together. If I read the book, it would just be me sitting alone, and not everyone in my family would want to read it. But with the movie, everyone could join in, laugh at the funny parts and be amazed at the magic. In the end, I know some people love the book more, but I think the Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone movie is better. It’s more exciting, shorter, brings the character to life, and is more fun to watch with others. If I had to pick between the book and the movie, l’d definitely go with the movie.
