Recently, over Labor Day weekend, two local businesses combined into one location. The businesses were the businesses of the husband and wife, Leigh and Kendall KepLeigh.
“I think honestly in the end with prom, having prom dresses and tuxedos under the same roof will be nice,” Leigh KepLeigh, store owner, said.
Previously named “Little Britches” was most known for its selection of prom recess, similarly to previously named “Keps” which was known for its suitwear selection. Combining the two businesses will provide great convenience for high school students during prom season.
“Then you can go and shop for prom dresses and prom suits at the same time,” Ryan Unger, Trade junior, said.
Unger noted the convenience of people being able to shop for prom with their date at the same time. He said it will help save time and ensure everything coordinates well.
“I do plan to buy my prom dress from there this year,” Jencie Stocking, Public Service junior, said.
Stocking agrees, and also looks forward to this easy shopping experience.
“I have been a part of Little Britches for 42 years,” KepLeigh said.
Both Little Britches and Keps have been around for many years and have become a staple to the community. They have many regular customers who appreciate their passion for what they do.
“We started out in a very small location,” KepLeigh said.
Not only has Little Britches been around for years, but it has grown over those years. It originally started as a small shop on Main Street, and eventually grew to a second location before finally moving to the 3rd and current location that is again on Main Street.
“My favorite part is the customers, getting to know the customers,” KepLeigh said.
Through the many locations and changes the store has had, KepLeigh says she has greatly enjoyed getting to interact with customers and provide them their fashion needs.
“I really like being able to see all the new dresses that come in and how retail works,” Stocking said.
Stocking, a new employee of two weeks, has loved her experience so far. She specifically loves looking at the prom selection and interacting with that forte.
“My experience was pretty good, he was really nice…he was really patient too,” Unger said.
From a customer’s perspective, Unger also had a fantastic experience. He noted the pleasant interactions with the employees he had, along with a great selection of men’s suit wear. He said it was the perfect fit for hisprevious prom event.
“I did have to downsize my children’s department for him to be able to get all his merchandise here,” KepLeigh said.
It is important to note that there were some changes made to the businesses when the two stores combined. Customers may notice a slight decrease in children’s merchandise but other merchandise areas like formal and women’s wear will remain the same.
“We really appreciate everyone who’s shopped with us for the past 40 plus years,” KepLeigh said.
With lots of changes occurring for new and exciting shopping experiences, KepLeigh states how excited she is for this new chapter. She said her and her husband greatly appreciate all the support of customers.
