Highschoolers should get a job while dealing with school and homework. Having a job as a high schooler teaches responsibility and teaches the student to take ownership of their actions. It also teaches them to start learning how to handle money with a job. Having a job in high school doesn’t just teach responsibility, but it also makes money. If one doesn’t spend their money correctly as a high school student, they can learn from that mistake and learn how to responsibly spend and use money. Having a job early on can teach good work ethic and have you be more prepared for future jobs. There are little to no downsides to having a job as the only thing you’re losing is the time you have to do homework or activities after school as you may not have time to do those things after you get off work or before work. I have been working for a little less than a year now and I can say that all of these things are true. I don’t have to worry about doing homework after as I can do it while i’m working when it isn’t too busy. Having a job also helps with people skills. Some jobs affect that more than others as some you will only be dealing with people, and others not as much. For me I deal with people all the time and it has greatly helped my people skills. I have learned to manage my time, money, and I have become more responsible with having a job. Certain jobs will also benefit things that you may love or enjoy doing. If you like a certain fast food restaurant, you can get discounts on the food by working there. Working at a golf course or some place that would benefit other sports could help you get better, practice, get discounts and many other things. Overall, having a job as a high school student has many benefits with little to no downsides. Some of these benefits are better work ethic, money management, and more responsibility. With all these benefits and little downsides there isn’t a reason to not get a job.
