My time here at this school is coming to an end and as the curtains close on this chapter of my life, I feel a sense of gratitude. There are many memories from this time in my life that I will never forget. Starting with the first weeks of high school, when I was just a freshman finding my place in this school, to today, where I am preparing to do it all again. Growing up is hard, there is not just one path through high school, and who am I to say which way is the best? My adventure through high school was through publications, I have always been awkward and quiet, but I love to write. I needed a way of getting out of my comfort zone, and The Sugar Beet gave me that while allowing me to pursue a path of writing. This being the case it was such a blessing to have been put into the honors English class led by a driven teacher who cared for his students. Mr. Nelson, gave us the environment to grow not only as writers but gave us the place to grow as individuals. I joined sports and clubs that I stuck with through the majority of my time in high school. Of these I loved the challenge of Scholars Bowl the most. I have learned skills that I will use throughout my life, not only in writing but in communication skills. There is no feeling like getting published for the first time, it is nerve wracking and very exciting. But there is a bitter sweet quality to writing my last work to be printed because this is the end of my time writing for the Sugar Beet, although it was amazing just that I was given the opportunity to be printed. Giving your time and energy to something you love is one of life’s greatest gifts. I certainly loved to write for the Sugar Beet. I am not yet ready for the future but it is my time to pass on the torch. I am proud of what I have accomplished, and am grateful for the opportunity to have used my skills to give this program a website again. I have left my mark and what more is there to want other than that. I will never forget my time here at this high school nor will I forget all the amazing teachers and coaches that I have had the pleasure of interacting with.
