On Tuesday, Dec. 16, an anonymous environmental activist placed a 3D printed version of the Lorax near a recently cut down tree next to the Point. Since then, the Lorax has acted as a sign of unity in the high school, bringing together several groups unhappy with the missing tree. However, the Lorax is currently missing from his place of protest where the mulberry tree stump sits. The person at fault is unknown.
“It was a little shocking to see him missing, and honestly confused me a little. The lorax brought people together,” Abigail Wise, Arts & Comm. junior, said.
The Lorax was first noticed missing during the Evex IQ home middle school robotics tournament. His feet sit on the tree stump where he once stood, as a statement for whoever cut down the tree. Wise noticed him the morning of the tournament, and has since then been trying to figure out why the Lorax has been absent or mistreated.
“It was windy that morning, so I suppose the wind could have knocked him over, especially considering the angle at which he was ripped off. I am unsure as to whether or not it was accidental,” Wise said.
Accidental or not, the crime scene leaves suspect that a shoe possibly mistook him for a football. Students with any information are encouraged to email [email protected].
Currently, the robotics team is working on repairing the Lorax, hoping to restore him to his sanctuary stump.
