Since first grade Mia Hannigan has been working on her basketball career. Now as a sophomore she is on the Buffalo Girl Basketball team and is ready to dominate the court this season. Recently she has won an award for breaking the career three point record.
“I was really shocked because it’s my sophomore year and I didn’t expect to break any record yet, but I felt really good,” Mia Hannigan, Public Service sophomore, said.
The three point record is separated into two categories, the record is different for the girl’s and boy’s teams of basketball. Hannigan broke the girl’s record on Feb. 3 during her game against Dodge City with her 128th three pointer.
“I’m aiming for the boys’ record. I’m two away from the seasonal and 40 away from the career,” Hannigan said.
Hannigan is still striving through the season to continue to work hard and build relationships.
“I think basketball is a nice sport and builds skills you can’t really build on your own. The team is also like a family to me,” Hannigan said.
