On Friday, Oct. 24, the cross country team held a Halloween fundraiser at Florence Wilson Elementary School for Pre-K through fourth grade students. The event took place from 9 a.m. to noon, giving parents a chance to drop their kids off and enjoy a kid-free morning. The fundraiser was filled with excited children, fun games, snacks and even a spooky haunted house. 

The team worked hard to get ready for the big day. 

“I was excited to be part of it,” Isabella Guevara, Art & Comm. junior, said. 

Guevara enjoyed being around the kids and helping them have fun. 

“I was looking forward to hanging out with the little kids and just having fun with them,” Guevara said. She believed the fundraiser made the team grow closer. 

“It helped bring us closer together because it involved a lot of teamwork and brought more people to make sure this event goes smoothly,” Guevara said. 

Everyone on the team helped plan the activities and made sure everything was ready.

“We were setting up the things we wanted to do and just planning ahead and to make sure everyone makes it on time,” Alethia Miller, Art & Comm. junior, said. 

Miller also said she enjoyed helping with the preparations and seeing everything come together. 

“I felt ready to have fun with the kids,” Miller said. 

Ethan White, Freshman Academy, said everything went well and the kids had a great time. 

“I think the fundraising will go pretty well, we talked about it quite a lot,” White said.

The reason the event went smoothly was because of all their team work and planning. 

“We discussed who’s gonna be doing what exactly, “ White said.

Also before the event he shared what the kids would love the most. 

“The kids will enjoy the haunted house mostly, it would be a lot of fun for them and also scare them a little but not too much,” White said.

By the end of the day, the cross country team raised over a thousand dollars, helping with their meals for future years to come.
